Parvez Michel

Venice Beach - March 29, 2009 -During my amazing visit to LA, while on Venice Beach one day we stumbled across a great artist, Parvez Michel. Parvez uses many different sources for his projects, many of which are environmentally friendly. From high-density fiberboard made from recycled post production waste, Reclaimed Sorghum Straw, re-used mirrors and to the acrylic products which we had the pleasure of seeing. These projects make great room dividers, light boxes and window installations or just a great art piece that can be suspended from your ceiling. You have the option of choosing one of his designs or if you have a creative flare, you can customize your own pice of art. Check out his work at www.parvezmichel.com

A combination of two creative geniuses

Toronto, Ontario - March 29, 2009 - This has got to be one of my favourite videos of all time. This is the recipe to a beautiful and emotional story that has been created by Montreal based singer & pianist, Patrick Watson and Alex Produkt also Montreal based super creative artist who is known for his sketches on one single piece of paper and creating movement with his characters by erasing and re-drawing continuously.

Sam Flores

Toronto, Ontario - March 28, 2009 - An artist I just stumbled upon that is definitely worth while checking out. Sam Flores' designs are very graffiti orientated with clean lines and a repetitive colour scheme. He has an incredible Bio on his website which I suggest you take a look at as well you can find his work which include paintings, drawings and instalations.

Earth Hour TODAY

Toronto, Ontario - March 28, 2009 - An event which was once only a Toronto based participation, Earth Hour is catching on and flooding to more than 150 cities coast to coast. This year, almost a BILLION people in more than 2,800 cities worldwide are expected to live in the dark for one hour tonight starting at 8:30PM local time.

To have even a deeper impact, lights are to be switched off at some of the world's greatest landmarks: The Acropolis in Athens, the Roman Colloseum and the Great Pyramids at Giza. Also Local landmarks such as Niagara Falls and the CN Tower.
I encourage you to share this with your friends, family and co-workers and to participate tonight in Earth Hour where we can all work towards reducing electricity consumption.

Doc to Watch

Toronto, Ontario - March 26, 2009 - With the Hot Docs Festival coming up soon, I've been doing my research and the doc on the top of my list so far that I need to see has quite the long title: The Art Star and the Sudanese Twins. This is a story is captured by a New Zealand filmmaker, Pietra Brettkelly. Vanessa Beecroft, a contemporary art world star has no boundries between life and art. Brettkelly follows Beecroft during a 16 month journey to Sudan. Her initial reason was to go to Africa for inspiration in art but soon turned into a bond which deepened her desire to adopt two orphan babies. This film creates awareness and the not easily answerable question: is there a suitable reaction to African Suffering? Watch the trailer to learn more.

The Message in the Bottle

Toronto, Ontario - March 26, 2009 - Recently I had the pleasure of finally meeting Billie Mintz, a very talented and passionate man with many messages to express and share with our world. One message in particular stood out for me. It is his project he formed in memory of his cousin, Cory Mintz who was a victim of the tragic car accident in Muskoka back in 2008 which involved speeding and alcohol. A place where most people seek harmony and peace, on July 3rd, 2008 Muskoka transformed into a nightmare of families who had so suddenly lost their loved ones in a case that should never have happend. Please take the time to visit the website, watch the videos, post comments and be sure to find out how you can help. http://themessageinthebottle.com/

Feet at the end of Bed Series

Toronto, Ontario - March 26, 2009 - Once again, after my return from LA, and being able to see the sketchbooks of some amazing artists in this world, i grew a fascination with how complex feet were. Obviously hands were way to generic for me to choose to draw, so I have decided to start a series of sketches of Feet at the end of beds. This is the first sketch that will be part of the series.

Canvas Almost DONE Finally!

Toronto, Ontario - March 26, 2009 - I have had this canvas on my wall incomplete for about 6 months now. After returning from a very much inspiring and amazing first trip to LA, I finally decided to take it off my wall and place it back up on the easel and give it go! Now almost completed (I'm just waiting to put a beautiful shiny high gloss finish on it) makes me super excited.

DID YOU KNOW?

Toronto, Ontario - March 26, 2009 - This was passed along to me from my mom and my mom actually received it from my aunt. This is an amazing factual video that will honestly blow you away. As most people I have spoke to, I highly suggest you make your own soundtrack to this because the music is horrendous. That being said, it is a video on the progression of info technology.

For the Love of Shary Boyle

Toronto, Ontario - March 26, 2009 - It is no doubt that at a first glance, Shary Boyle's work brings you to this deep dark and mysterious fantasy land. Now exhibiting her work at the Jessica Bradley Art & Projects space, she has an array of artwork displayed from sculptures, paintings drawings and also live projections. I highly reccommend seeing her exhibit while it's still up. You can take a look at more of her work on her website http://sharyboyle.com and also learn more at http://tinyurl.com/cu7ger.
